Competition Etiquette:
Do not return obvious
faults as this disrupts the server.
Make sure the server has the
balls at his/her end. When sending them back, do so under the net or softly
over if net too long. Make sure the server is aware that a ball is coming
Do not enlist help from spectators with
line calls or scores or receive advice regarding the game. This is “coaching”
and is not allowed.
Never hit a ball, a racquet or fixture
in anger. Do not insinuate that your opponent is a cheat, this strictly
contravenes “rules of non-umpired matches”.
It is a player’s
responsibility to call line calls at his/her end only, unless asked by their
opponent. It is your responsibility to call against yourself if the ball is
clearly out and you have been requested to assist with the call.
Do not question calls.
Maintain a respectful attitude toward your opponent.
Do not swear, threaten or abuse your opponent. Verbal abuse, physical
abuse and audible obscenities contravene rules of weekly competition play.
Do not throw your racquet, this is a safety issue. Do not
deliberately try to hit your opponent. Players are reminded that competitive
play requires that idle chatter and noise be kept to a minimum.
Do not walk off the court
before the set is over, without permission from opponent and only in cases of
emergency.
